Derris Scandens or Jewel Vine (in Thai: Thaowanpriang) is an evergreen climbing branched shrub having twining habit. It has a tap root system without aerial roots. Leaves are compound, alternate, leaf axis upto 19 cm long, solid, woody, green. Leaflets are elliptic-lancelike, entire, blunt, hairless.

This woody vine is growing throughout South east Asia, including Thailand.

The stem of Derris Scandens has been widely use in Thai traditional

medicine, for example of myalgia (means "muscle pain" and is a symptom of many diseases and disorders. The most common causes are the overuse or over-stretching of a muscle or group of muscles.
