Sesamin is a compound found in sesame seeds and sesame oil. It belongs to a group of fibrous plant compounds known as lignans, along with a closely related lignan called sesamolin. This compound is known to promote anti-inflammatory effects, normalize blood pressure, lower cholesterol, aid in vitamin E absorption, protect the liver, and contribute to weight loss.

Sesamin 60 Capsules

Up to 2.5 percent of sesame seed is furofuran lignans, predominantly sesamin. Sesamin benefitially effects the metabolism of fatty acids, and impair cholesterol absorption and biosynthesis. Additionally these lignans possess antioxidants as well as vitamin E. the lignans also helps liver function with regard to alcohol metabolism and possess antiaging properties.


Sesamin, a compound found in black sesame, regulates the synthesis of a hormone-like substance called Prostaglandin E1. Prostaglandin E1 is a natural inflammation-suppressing hormone-like substance, reducing the risk of the degeneration of soft tissues that can lead to joint problems. Research shows that sesamin can prevent osteoarthritis, joint pain, and swollen joints. 

Research in rats shows that sesamin consumption increases HDL compared to the control group. This strongly indicates that sesamin intake helps prevent coronary diseases. Rats with sesamin intake also show reduced level of cholesterol, triglyceride, and bilirubin in liver. 

Research has also shown that sesamin intake benefits those with high blood pressure, since sesamin is a very potent antioxidant. 

Standardized 5% sesamin extract from sesame seeds.

Recommended Dosage

1 capsule, 2 times daily, after meals.
